LovesLabs.com specializes in breeding, raising and training English style Labrador Retrievers that are sound, have great family temperaments and can be trained to work with your interests. We have puppies who have been placed in family homes, with special needs children, hunt, and compete in obedience, rally obedience, agility and conformation.
Our puppies are raised in our home where they are handled on a daily basis. We perform a series of exercises called "early neurological stimulation" for the first 14 days. These exercises have been shown to produce dogs who are better able to handle stress, have stronger immune systems and are more trainable. At about 14 days the puppies eyes and ears open. At this time we start adding visual and sound simulation. Recordings are played daily which include gun fire, thunder, airport, train station, auto, fireworks, different livestock, crying children, vacuums, dog show and other sounds. The puppies are also introduced to different surfaces and textures through a variety of toys. Light stimulation is achieved by leaving a television running with its fluctuating light levels. After the puppies reach 4 weeks of age, we encourage future puppy families to come visit and play with the puppies. They are also introduced to wings of geese and ducks to help condition them for hunting.
All of these steps are very time consuming, but they have proved to produce well socialized puppies, who are ready to go to their new forever homes at 8 weeks of age.
